POSITION SUMMARY

Matthews International is seeking a qualified Shipping / Receiving Supervisor to work in our Production Facility in the Richmond, IN area for our memorialization business segment. This position is responsible for Supervising and Coordinating activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing/incoming shipments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules. 
• Will handle safety inspections to ensure company safety standards are met.
• Determines required space and notifies proper person if loads are not completed or need to fill space on loads. 
• Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
• Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel if needed. 
• Maintains vehicle maintenance report. 
• Directs movement of shipments from shipping area to storage and work area. 
• Oversees incoming and FedEx/UPS shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Determines space requirements and position of incoming supplies.
• Designs location stocking. 
• Inspects unloading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and notifies proper person in case of damaged or incomplete orders. 
• Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
• Additional duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS


• 6+ years progressive warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years in a leadership role.
• High degree of proficiency Computer applications including SAP (will train).
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• The noise level in the work environment may be high.
