Job Summary

Matthews International is seeking a qualified Shipping / Receiving Supervisor to work in our Production Facility for our memorialization business segment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on outgoing/incoming shipments.
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
  • Handle safety inspections to ensure company safety standards are met.
  • Determine required space and notify proper personnel if loads are not completed or need to fill space on loads.
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel if needed.
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance report.
  • Direct movement of shipments from shipping area to storage and work area.
  • Oversee incoming and FedEx/UPS shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determine space requirements and position of incoming supplies.
  • Design location stocking.
  • Inspect unloading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and notify proper personnel in case of damaged or incomplete orders.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of employees to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentor, coach, train, and develop team.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 6+ years progressive warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • High degree of proficiency in computer applications, including SAP (will train).
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
Work Environment
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear, and see.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold and heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment may be high.
