IT Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting a digital transformation initiative in collaboration with our client, NASIC, located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for contributing to the comprehensive design and implementations of OPIR Mission capabilities across multiple mission threads.

The ideal candidate for this role should exhibit both autonomy in their work and an aptitude for unraveling intricate issues. A penchant for problem-solving and the ability to guide others in resolving their IT challenges are essential traits. Additionally, an adaptability to sudden shifts in tasks is crucial. An optimal candidate will boast a broad spectrum of experience encompassing the installation, configuration, and administration of systems, both cloud-native and on-premise.

Responsibilities:

• Developing or enhancement of features, activities necessary for security, testing, configuration control, delivery, documentation, packaging, and integration.
• Assisting in the selection process, installation, and configuration of tools used for essential functions such as patch management, backups, anti-virus measures, logging, and security scanning.
• Providing support and maintenance for diverse environments and components.

• Will be responsible for continuous improvement to the design and configuration of a unique and complex IT System.
• Will be responsible for the engineering and implementation of various hardware and software solutions across various enclaves.
• Will be responsible for hardware, software, and network troubleshooting.
• Assist with security audits & work with staff to remediate any & all security findings with supported systems & applications.
• Manage various operational IT systems.
• Work with cross-functional IT Teams to ensure effective execution of services.
• Provide tiered support for applications and services both cloud and on premise.
• Act as systems administrator for applications and services.
• Provide verification for pre-install tasking like scoping, sizing, planning, networking, etc. for potential new applications and services.
• Lead integration efforts between applications and services (APIs, Data File Transfer, etc.).

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience, 3 years of which should be above the tier 2 (In-Depth Tech Support) level. Experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or Information Assurance/Cyber Security.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience administrating DoD networks.
• Must have a DoD IAT Level II – DoD 8140 (Formally 8570) certifications (, Security+), DoD IAT Level III (CISSP or CASP+) preferred.
• Must have advanced experience with configuring Windows Active Directory, Group Policies and DISA STIG’s.
• Must have experience administrating Secret or higher classification networks.
• Must have experience with TCP/IP protocols and advanced IT networking concepts

• Must have experience implementing, upgrading, and administering Windows servers, including SQL Server
• Experience with planning, implementing, administering, and securing network infrastructure including network security appliances, routers, managed switches, servers, workstations, peripherals, cabling, and other equipment.
• Experience with the following technologies: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Cisco IOS, DNS, Virtualization, SAN/NAS, security assessment tools and network hardware and media (blade-servers, fiber- channel, and network cabling)

Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in programming languages (at least 2): C, C++, Java, JavaScript, & Python
• Experience in the following applications frameworks (at least 2):
• React, Angular, Python, JavaScript, CSS, & HTML, & Material UI
• Familiarity & knowledge:
• Apache Spark, Kubernetes, Kafka, SIMP Project, Ansible, Docker, GIT, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Suricata, Zeek, Kibana, Logstash, Elastic Search, Neo4J, PostgreSQL, AWS Cloud & Nifi
• Experience or Knowledge in the following Areas:
• Agile software development, agile methodologies, agile project management, software project management, defensive cyber military operations, software development life cycle management, program/project management, systems engineering, strategic planning, cross-functional team
