Ivy Tech - Bloomington is looking for an individual to join their team as a Talent Connection Manager for the Microelectronics Industry. The Talent Connection Manager serves as a strategic partner in developing strategies to assist students and employers with work-and-learn and career placement and retention efforts. Reports to the campus Vice Chancellor or Career Link or ME Industry Liaison and works collaboratively with Career Link, Academic Advisors, Deans, K-14 Team, and other leaders to develop work plans tied to College metrics and ensure services and products meet or exceed customer and campus metrics.

*Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis until position is filled.

Salary: $50K

**This is a federally funded grant position for the first year of operations with additional funding commitments to follow.

Sick Time: 3.7 hours each pay (paid every two weeks).

Vacation Time: 5.34 each pay for first 2 years, then increases to 6.15 after 2 years.

9 Paid holidays: New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.

Winter recess: The College also observes an official closing of 4 standard work week days between the observed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays. This is known as Winter Recess.

Free tuition towards Ivy Tech classes for employee and qualifying dependents.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: The Talent Connection Manager serves as a strategic partner in developing strategies to assist students and employers with work-and-learn and career placement and retention efforts. Reports to the campus Vice Chancellor or Career Link or ME Industry Liaison and works collaboratively with Career Link, Academic Advisors, Deans, K-14 Team, and other leaders to develop work plans tied to College metrics and ensure services and products meet or exceed customer and campus metrics. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partners with campus Vice Chancellor Career Link to build out campus strategy and plans to meet and exceed related College goals for the Microelectronics Industry.

Develops deep understanding and appreciation of career experiences and best practices with a focus on the microelectronics industry.

Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to microelectronics career experiences.

Leads efforts to build awareness of work-and-learn and career opportunities at campus and with employers, including, but not limited to, such areas as internships, Achieve Your Degree (AYD) and other work-and-learn constructs with a focus on the microelectronics industry.

Establishes and grows a consistent operational model for campus delivery of work-and-learn opportunities and other skill-based practicum experiences for the microelectronics industry.

Leads efforts to source and secure employer work-and-learn and full-time employment interests and facilitates the connection to College programs and students. 

Works collaboratively with microelectronics employers to map employee program of study to internal work & learn experiences. 

Partners with career coach to engage students and ensure participation in required work-and-learn opportunities and career placement strategies and completion of at least one work-and-learn experience upon credential attainment. 

Partners with employer consultant to develop, consult, report and analyze microelectronics student placement data, wages, employment trends, or other pertinent data. Remains current on employment trends and matches those with program opportunities. Provides realistic and attainable metrics on student employment outcomes, and recommends strategies to improve students’ employment outcomes.

Assists with engagements linked to Indiana Office of Work-Based Learning, Department of Workforce Development, Commission for Higher Education, and other agencies related to career development and job placement opportunities. 

Works collaboratively with K-14 lead, deans, employers and k-12 schools districts in promoting built-in work & learn experiences supporting high school graduation pathways and workforce pipelines for the microelectronics industry. 

Drives microelectronic employer utilization of technology solutions that support career development and student and employer connections, including linking with work-and-learn and full-time employment opportunities.

Participates in monthly meetings with Systems Office partners andparticipates in related annual summits and/or retreats.

Support the microelectronics classroom and labs by partnering with faculty to assist and develop labs and classroom experiences.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required

A minimum of two (2) years related experience in business development, employer consulting, or professional job recruitment required. Experience in career development preferred. 

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued. 

Demonstrated skills and abilities to listen effectively, communicate clearly, build key relationships and concurrently manage numerous tasks, some with conflicting priorities required.

Must have excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. 

Commitment to student learning outcomes, staff development, and diversity required.

Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses, industry partners, and professional development activities. 

Ability to work within an entrepreneurial framework and scale a large project required.
