Summary
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor at the Minnie Street Family Resource Center (MSFRC), the Family Support Advocate (FSA) is part of the collaborative within the Families and Communities Together (FaCT) grant. The FSA is responsible for providing comprehensive case management and family advocacy services to Human Options’ clients who may or may not have experienced domestic violence. The FSA is responsible for screening clients, ensuring participants access services, follow up with participants, as needed, complete pre and post assessment tools, perform home visits as needed, participate in outreach events, work closely with internal and community partners in other Social Services Agencies, and prepare and submit data and reports as required by grants.
Dut ies and Responsibilities
Provide family advocacy by linking families to internal and external community agencies for appropriate resource;ll provide family case management to ensure family’s linkage and referral to services. Ensure all documentation and assessments are completed and entered into corresponding databases (, ETO VistaShare) within designated time limits. Perform home visits, when necessary, with social workers and as allowed by direct supervisor. Flexible schedule required to participate in community outreach events. Facilitate 4 cycles (10-weeks per cycle) of the Personal Empowerment Program (PEP) program per year, per Family Resource Center (FRC) led by Human Options.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required in behavioral science, related field, or commensurate work experience required. Bilingual in English and Spanish required. Two years of experience in case management with at risk children and families. One year of knowledge in the child welfare system preferred. Excellent knowledge of community resources and familiarity to utilize resource linkages in Orange County. Valid class C license. Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire.Prospective employees must pass a background screening to the satisfaction of the agency prior to placement. Since background screenings take time to complete, applicants are encouraged to apply early.
