Clarvida, LLC is in search of a dedicated and innovative individual to become a part of our team as a Bilingual Vietnamese Peer Support Specialist III.

The Peer Support Program is a unique, peer-led initiative focused on recovery that aids individuals facing mental health challenges in achieving their recovery objectives.

Peer Support Specialists collaborate with individuals to bolster their recovery by emphasizing their strengths, exemplifying recovery practices, and empowering them to combat the stigma associated with mental health issues.


Overview:


Peer Support Specialists are individuals who have experienced mental health challenges themselves or have supported someone who has. They embody diverse cultural backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, age, education, spiritual beliefs, and sexual orientation.

Each Peer Support Specialist has a distinct recovery or lived experience narrative, which they share with clients to foster mental health recovery and diminish stigma.

They inspire hope by demonstrating that recovery is achievable and provide genuine empathy rooted in shared experiences.

Peer Support Specialists deliver highly personalized services within the community, promoting self-determination and decision-making among clients.

COMPENSATION:
$21-22/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate as a team member under the guidance of the team leader, with specific responsibilities varying based on qualifications and experience.
  • Offer supportive services related to work, including transportation, necessitating the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Engage in mentoring and problem-solving, providing encouragement in various settings.
  • Maintain timely communication with clients to address inquiries and enhance their overall wellness.
  • Deliver practical assistance and mentoring, advocacy, coordination, and individualized support to help clients secure essential daily living resources.
  • Organize social activities.
  • Facilitate group sessions and/or assignments as directed by Lead Peer Support Specialists, Clinical Manager, or Program Director.
  • Build effective partnerships with agencies and organizations to advocate for the empowerment of consumers and their families/caregivers.
  • Document all activities as required.
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations, ethical standards, and professional boundaries with all staff and clients.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the program and/or the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must have experience as a consumer of mental health services or possess lived experience related to mental health.
  • Previous experience in behavioral health is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses

  • Valid California driver's license and auto insurance, along with proof of education, are required.
  • Medi-Cal Peer Certification from the California Mental Health Services Authority (CALMHSA) is preferred. Certification training will be provided upon hire, and certification must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
Skills and Experience - Peer Support Specialist III

  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by consumers and their families/caregivers in the mental health sector.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to convey the consumer experience and perspective effectively within the mental health system and community.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with diverse groups, including consumers, family organizations, family members, caregivers, treatment staff, and community organizations.
  • Lived experience with mental health conditions, either personally or through a family member.
  • Familiarity with community resources and experience working with peers.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Physical Requirements

  • Office-based role requiring extensive sitting with occasional standing and walking.
  • May need to lift or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Significant use of computers, tablets, phones, and general office equipment is required.
  • Adequate visual acuity and ability to handle objects are necessary.
  • Effective communication skills through reading, writing, and speaking are essential.
  • Off-site travel in the community is required for meetings, training, and client needs.
  • Personal vehicle use is necessary for travel and transportation.
