Description

Summary:

Performs construction projects efficiently and insures compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, and all state and local building codes. Interprets and implements detailed construction projects and plans to expedite and prioritize work flow for members of project team.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs construction projects quickly, neatly, safely, and cost efficiently, & to insure compliance with Joint Commission, OSHA, & all state & local building codes.
2. Interpretation and implementation of detailed construction projects & plans to expedite & prioritize work flow for members of project team.
3. Directs phases with subcontractors to ensure all parties and trades necessary time slots & accessibility, with minimum impact on hospital crews, staff & patients.
4. Performs projects with the patients' and staffs' safety & care superceding project function.
5. Coordinates material to scope of work to insure adequate material inventory to maximize use of project manpower.
6. Verifies in field all phases of construction needed to be addressed onsite, to minimize impact on work flow and project scope plus cost efficiency.
7. Performs all phases of carpentry, cabinetry, flooring, doors, windows, ceiling work, framing, wall boards, painting, wall coverings, hardware, masonry, and trim work.
8. Performs projects allowing affected departments to run unhindered by construction. Alert necessary personnel to possible changes, problems or any possible interruptions to equipment or services to affected area or utilities.
9. Makes sure proper UL standards are used & maintained in hospital for all phases of fire/smoke wall projects, to insure safety of patients, staff & visitors.
10. Interacts with housekeeping for final phases of projects.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Minimum Experience: five years
Desired: Comprehensive background of building construction and building systems in a commercial setting, good people skills. Some supervisory experience preferred.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Significant occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
