Engineers and Constructors International is seeking a Project Engineer to provide expert technical oversight and management for our engineering projects. This role is crucial in ensuring the technical integrity of each project while adhering to the defined scope, timeline, and specifications established by the company. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Project Manager on larger initiatives and may independently manage several smaller projects for diverse clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Report directly to the Global Manager of Projects.
  • Assist in defining project objectives and ensure the project team is aligned to achieve these goals.
  • Evaluate potential project changes that could affect scope, budget, and timeline, and collaborate with engineering leads to prepare necessary documentation.
  • Understand client expectations and guide the project team to meet these standards.
  • Navigate through various phases of engineering projects, including Front End Loading, Process Development, and Construction Management.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including change logs and action items.
  • Regularly review project work quality to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads to develop project deliverables and ensure accurate budgeting for man-hours across disciplines.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the project team to monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
  • Identify and document scope changes, ensuring they are communicated to the client as part of an Engineering Change Notice.
  • Review engineering budgets and schedules, making adjustments as necessary to align with project objectives.
  • Provide input to the Project Controls Group for accurate resource forecasting and planning.
  • Ensure project execution aligns with company manuals and health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Work with the project scheduler to develop the master engineering schedule and identify key milestones.
  • Generate and distribute technical progress reports at defined intervals throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor engineering cost reports to maintain budget compliance.
  • Contribute to the long-term financial success of the organization by ensuring project completion aligns with financial goals.
  • Develop strategies to minimize budget overruns.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting Department to ensure timely invoicing in accordance with project milestones.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
  • Support the Business Development team in securing new projects, which may involve preparing proposal documents and providing input on project execution plans.
  • May act as the proposal manager for smaller project bids.
  • Assist in identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies during the proposal phase.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred certifications include Professional Engineer (US) and Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • A minimum of four years of experience in design engineering on multi-phase projects.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients.
  • Experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, and renewable sectors is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with LDPE/EVA and polymer engineering is preferred.
  • Established relationships with key clients, licensors, and vendors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of essential engineering topics relevant to an EPC environment.
