Senior Editor, Prime Video and Amazon Studios

Prime Video is on the lookout for an innovative and skilled Editor to spearhead and expand our internal editing studio, Day One. In the role of Director of Editorial Strategy for Prime Video and Studios, you will be responsible for the formulation, implementation, and daily management of the editorial vision for the Prime Video brand marketing. You will collaborate closely with the Amazon Studios title marketing team to produce exceptional marketing materials and content.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in audiovisual entertainment marketing, maintains significant industry connections (particularly with trailer production companies and editors), has a robust understanding of best practices across various platforms, and is enthusiastic about exploring new, creative methods to enhance the streaming customer experience. They are passionate about visual storytelling, demonstrating high craftsmanship and recognized as a proficient and award-winning editor of standout campaigns. Proficiency in editing software such as Premiere, Avid, and After Effects is essential. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing the business model and growth strategy for the studio. Organizational skills and the ability to create processes that ensure successful project execution are crucial. This role requires fostering a collaborative office culture, with a presence in the office at least three days a week and during key events or initiatives. The Editorial Lead will report to the Director of U.S. Streaming Creative and Production and will initially manage a team of five direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the editorial strategy, content, and presentation for Prime Video and Amazon Studios marketing campaigns.
- Develop a high-performing team through individual and group development, leveraging relationships and resources to attract top talent to the Day One studio.
- Establish valuable cross-departmental and cross-platform collaborations.
- Analyze data and research in conjunction with strategy and creative leads to assess effectiveness and discover new methodologies.
- Facilitate effective communication internally, through electronic means, and in-person, encompassing team discussions, brainstorming sessions, cross-departmental meetings, and stakeholder interactions.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing and outsourcing creative output, providing guidelines and inspiration to those teams.
- Work collaboratively to stay informed about evolving creative needs/styles in Product UI, Sports, Studios, and Partnerships to continuously innovate and refresh.
- Empower editors to broaden their capabilities—offering inspiration, education, and training as necessary.
- Compile quarterly summaries of asset performance, including insights and creative best practices for each platform.
- Act as the lead editor on select high-priority projects, as required.
10+ years of experience in video editing or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSStrong, valuable connections within the creative industry.
- Expert knowledge of editing systems including Premiere, Avid, and After Effects, along with other animation software.
- Excellent managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of navigating dynamic executive environments.
- Ability to effectively communicate with departments and department heads, collaborating with key partners across the organization.
- Proficiency in video tools and content management systems.
- Proven ability to partner with high-profile editorial talent and contributors.
