Head of Creative Content, Prime Video and Studios

Amazon Prime Video is on the lookout for an innovative and skilled Editor to spearhead and expand our internal editing division, Day One. As the Director of Creative Editorial, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and daily management of the editorial vision for the Prime Video brand marketing. You will collaborate closely with the Amazon Studios marketing team to produce exceptional marketing materials and content.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in audiovisual marketing, maintains significant industry connections (especially with editing houses and professionals), has a robust understanding of best practices across various platforms, and is enthusiastic about exploring new, creative strategies to enhance the streaming experience for customers. They are passionate about high-quality visual storytelling, recognized as a proficient and award-winning editor of groundbreaking campaigns, and are well-versed in editing software such as Premiere, Avid, and After Effects. Furthermore, you will be responsible for shaping the business model and growth trajectory of the studio. The role demands exceptional organizational skills and a reputation for establishing processes that ensure successful project execution. You will foster a collaborative office environment, requiring a presence in the office at least three days a week and during key events or initiatives. The Editorial Director will report to the Director of U.S. Streaming Creative and Production and will lead a team of five direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the editorial strategy, content, and presentation for Prime Video and Amazon Studios marketing campaigns.
- Develop a high-performing team through individual and group development, leveraging relationships and resources to attract top talent to the Day One studio.
- Establish valuable interdepartmental and cross-platform collaborations.
- Evaluate data and research in conjunction with strategy and creative leads to assess effectiveness and identify innovative approaches.
- Facilitate effective communication internally, through electronic means, and in-person, encompassing team discussions, cross-departmental meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing and outsourcing creative output, providing guidelines and inspiration to those teams.
- Collaborate across functions to stay attuned to evolving creative needs and styles in Product UI, Sports, Studios, and Partnerships to continuously innovate.
- Empower editors to broaden their skill sets—offering inspiration, education, and training as necessary.
- Compile quarterly summaries of asset performance, including insights and creative best practices for each platform.
- Act as the lead editor on select high-priority projects, as required.
10+ years of experience in video editing or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSStrong network of contacts within the creative industry.
- Expert knowledge of editing software including Premiere, Avid, and After Effects, along with other animation tools.
- Excellent managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of navigating dynamic executive environments.
- Ability to effectively communicate with departments and department heads, collaborating with key partners across the organization.
- Proficiency in video tools and content management systems.
- Proven ability to collaborate with high-profile editorial talent and contributors.
