Geomatics Field Supervisor I or II

Catapult is seeking a Geomatics Field Supervisor I or II, depending on your level of experience. This role presents an exciting opportunity for individuals with Land Surveying expertise, such as a Survey Rodman or Crew Chief. You will be responsible for overseeing a survey crew engaged in various types of surveys, identifying the locations of natural features and constructed elements on the Earth's surface, underground, and underwater, all while enjoying the great outdoors. The survey types you will engage with include, but are not limited to, boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, construction, and more. Our Geomatics team thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working on a variety of projects, including municipal initiatives, educational institutions, private/commercial developments, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage field crews and field surveys.
  • Ensure quality control of work, focusing on accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity.
  • Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and client service responsiveness.
  • Manage the operation of surveying instruments and equipment, utilizing the latest technologies.
  • Engage with clients, project teams, and the public effectively.
  • Train and instruct survey crew on methodologies and equipment usage.
  • Represent Catapult in a safe and professional manner.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in surveying, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field preferred.
  • Geomatics Field Supervisor I: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as Crew Chief, Surveyor, Survey Technician, Rodman, or Instrument Operator.
  • Geomatics Field Supervisor II: Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as Crew Chief, Surveyor, Survey Technician, Rodman, or Instrument Operator.
  • In-depth knowledge of land surveying principles and advanced skills in operating surveying equipment.
  • Familiarity with Trimble, Leica, and Carlson equipment and software is preferred.
  • NSPS Certified Survey Technician and/or Survey Intern Certification is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and driving record check.
  • Basic arithmetic and mathematical skills for calculations, along with basic computer proficiency.
  • Willingness to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary, and to perform overtime as required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight as needed.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring future sponsorship for an employment-based visa.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including squatting, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, navigating challenging terrain, and accessing construction sites in various weather conditions. You should be prepared to frequently handle and operate land surveying equipment.
