This role presents an exciting opportunity for individuals with Land Surveying expertise, including positions such as Survey Rodman or Crew Chief. You will be responsible for supervising a survey crew across various survey types, identifying the locations of natural and man-made features on the Earth's surface, underground, and underwater, all while enjoying the great outdoors. The surveys you will engage in include, but are not limited to, boundary, ALTA, topographic, existing conditions, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, and construction. Our Geomatics team thrives in a dynamic environment, tackling diverse projects ranging from municipal initiatives to private and commercial developments.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage field crews and survey operations.
- Ensure quality control of work, focusing on accuracy, thoroughness, and clarity.
- Coordinate schedules, budgets, and maintain responsive client service.
- Supervise the use of surveying instruments and equipment, employing the latest technologies.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and the public.
- Train and instruct survey crews in survey techniques and equipment usage.
- Represent Stewart professionally and safely.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in roles such as Crew Chief, Surveyor, Survey Technician, Rodman, or Instrument Operator is required.
- Advanced knowledge of land surveying principles and proficiency in operating surveying equipment.
- Experience with Trimble, Leica, and Carlson equipment and software is preferred.
- NSPS Certified Survey Technician and/or Survey Intern Certification is preferred.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to pass a drug test and driving record check.
- Basic arithmetic and mathematical skills for calculations, along with fundamental computer skills.
- Willingness to work after hours, on weekends, and occasionally on holidays, including overtime as necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight as required.

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for an employment-based visa.
You should be prepared to meet the physical demands of the role, which include squatting, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, navigating challenging terrain, and accessing construction sites in various weather conditions. You should also be able to frequently move and operate land surveying equipment.
Our Team:
The Geomatics group at Stewart captures, processes, and delivers spatially acquired data through various methods, including traditional land surveying, global positioning systems, laser scanning, and unmanned aerial systems (drones). This data can be presented through traditional CAD drawings, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3D models, photography, videography, or a combination thereof.
