Your Role at McKinstry

We are looking for a Automation Systems Engineer to enhance our Western Washington Technical Services team. Your expertise and innovative mindset are crucial to our mission of driving impactful change.

In our organization, commissioning is recognized as a vital component of project execution, ensuring that building systems are installed and function optimally. Your role is essential in maximizing the performance of our built environment. Newly constructed buildings require your skills to operate as intended, while existing structures benefit from your expertise in optimizing their operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure buildings provide optimal comfort throughout their lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage tailored commissioning plans for projects.
  • Conduct commissioning tasks across various building systems.
  • Validate compliance of building systems with engineering specifications.
  • Review installations, functional performance, and control systems operations.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Proven experience as a commissioning engineer.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in relevant commissioning roles.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with building automation systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and control systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of fire/life safety, plumbing, lighting, and security systems.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and identify potential issues.
  • Proficient in MS Suite, including Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
