Position Overview:
We are looking for an Automation Systems Engineer to join our Haul Truck Systems team. This role will involve supporting behavior definition, fault management, calibration, and verification processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system behaviors and articulate modes of operation.
- Assist product owners in defining operational concepts.
- Identify and document system and component requirements along with fault conditions.
- Define fault responses at both sub-system and system levels.
- Communicate requirements effectively to embedded software teams and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to develop, integrate, and troubleshoot hardware and embedded software.
- Represent control systems as a key stakeholder within a multi-disciplinary team throughout the system formulation, design, build, and testing phases.
- Create and execute calibration and verification plans to facilitate software and system verification testing.

Basic Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the life-cycle development of hardware or software for safety-critical systems or products.
- Familiarity with avionics systems, embedded electronics, automotive systems, or industrial controls.
- Experience with Model-Based Development tools such as Simulink/Stateflow.
- Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN Open, J1939, Ethernet).
- Experience in system verification planning and testing.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, regarding technical subjects.
- Adaptability and responsiveness in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to represent our company to customers, vendors, and partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a Controls Engineering role or equivalent.
- Experience with FMEA/FMECA analysis and fault management.
- Familiarity with vehicle calibration and testing equipment and processes (e.g., DAQ systems, debugging/calibration of embedded vehicle controllers over XCP or similar).
- Experience in identifying states and modes for complex systems.
- Background in fluid, thermal, or other mechanical systems.
- Experience with safety-critical systems and functional safety in various industries including industrial, automotive, aerospace, and mining.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline or equivalent experience.

Location:
This position will be based at our headquarters and will require in-office work for a significant portion of the working hours.
