Position Overview:

Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation is seeking a Construction Superintendent - Temporary to oversee the comprehensive management of various Federal construction projects from initiation to completion. Local and regional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • During the design phase: engage in discussions with Architects and Engineers to evaluate project scope and sequencing; provide value-engineering insights and other necessary contributions.
  • In the pre-construction phase: work collaboratively with the project team to establish staffing needs, productivity benchmarks, cost assessments, constructability evaluations, execution strategies, submittal documentation, timelines, and subcontractor involvement.
  • Throughout the construction phase: maintain a consistent presence at the job site to supervise all construction activities; manage scheduling (CPM and short interval); and direct all self-perform trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Participate in site inspections and meetings to evaluate project scope, site conditions, logistics, and identify essential resources for successful project delivery.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor: job reports detailing labor and equipment usage; Requests for Information (RFIs); Change Orders; and Progress reports.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction as an On-site Superintendent for Federal projects.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex drawings, plans, and specifications, including site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and oversee the work of multiple teams.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); Scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera). Knowledge of Procore is advantageous.
  • OSHA 30 or EM 385 safety certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • First Aid/CPR certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • A steadfast commitment to safety practices.
Work Environment:
  • Job duties will be performed in an office setting as well as at construction sites, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Travel between project sites may be necessary.
Physical Requirements:
  • The physical demands outlined below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:
    • Ability to navigate uneven or temporary terrain.
    • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
    • Ability to frequently use hands for handling or feeling.
    • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach.
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
