Language and Communication Specialist - Educational Institutions

We are seeking a dedicated Language and Communication Specialist for various educational institutions in the Dallas region.


The Specialist will employ leadership, advocacy, and collaborative strategies to deliver preventive measures, evaluations, and intervention services for students with disabilities facing challenges in language, speech, voice, and fluency.

This role includes assisting in the assessment of eligibility for special education services and evaluating the impact of students' impairments on their ability to engage with the general curriculum and meet state educational standards.

This position may require travel to multiple locations and will report to the designated school Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform speech-language screenings for students suspected of having disabilities.
  • Conduct both formal and informal assessments, including ongoing and curriculum-based evaluations.
  • Interpret and analyze assessment data to provide recommendations for speech-language services.
  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions tailored to individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom educators to effectively manage speech-language services.
  • Offer consultative support to teachers, parents, administrators, and related agencies to integrate speech-language objectives into classroom activities, other educational programs, and home settings.
  • Ensure appropriate placement of students in speech-language programs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) with specific speech-language goals and objectives, adhering to established due process protocols.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's Degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience is necessary.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Active Speech Language Pathologist license for the State of Texas (mandatory)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (mandatory)
