Job Summary

Sargent & Lundy is a leading engineering firm seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to contribute to the success of our clients. As a key member of our project team, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse transmission assignments, develop your knowledge of transmission line engineering, and collaborate with experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct cost analyses and develop design criteria, providing accurate and reliable data for project stakeholders.
  • Route and site transmission lines, considering environmental and logistical factors.
  • Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies, applying advanced technical knowledge.
  • Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Direct a small project team, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program, with a strong foundation in transmission line engineering.
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD software, as well as other industry-standard tools and technologies.
  • 7 or more years of experience as a member of a project team in transmission line design, cost estimate development, and schedule creation and coordination.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for engineering calculations, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
  • Attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current PE license or ability to acquire one within one year, demonstrating a commitment to professional development.
  • Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates, applying business acumen and technical expertise.
  • Experience with scheduling, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Proficiency with programs such as PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation, staying up-to-date with industry advancements.
