Position Overview

This role is an entry-level opportunity aimed at cultivating technical proficiency in a specialized field.

The engineer will engage in tasks that involve standard types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few intricate features for which there are established precedents.

Responsibilities include managing limited scope activities that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly utilized in specific assignments.

As proficiency develops, the engineer may lead small to medium, non-critical projects and/or provide field oversight for critical projects under the guidance of a senior engineer or supervisor. Work will be reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to execute activities and assignments of limited scope.
  • Assists in the creation of technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards.
  • Provides ongoing technical support for project activities in areas such as Operations, Maintenance, and Testing/Diagnostics.
  • May offer field engineering oversight for activities such as commissioning, testing, and inspections under direct supervision.
  • Coordinates or leads projects or segments of projects, including phases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning.
  • Supports bid and evaluation processes by conducting basic analysis and calculations on existing documentation and materials.
  • Communicates effectively with other business areas of the company following appropriate processes.
  • Exchanges information in various formats on matters of wide-ranging importance and complexity, both internally and with external customers or vendors.
  • May coordinate the work of interns, drafters, technicians, and others, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
  • Engages in continuous self-development of technical skills and competencies.
  • May perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, and work order management in support of engineering projects.

Entry Level Minimum Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
  • 0+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level as established by the organization.
  • Preferred: EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
