Job Summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly skilled Transmission and Substation Standards Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of electrical engineering standards and guidelines that meet the company's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards and guidelines for transmission and substation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams on electrical engineering-related matters.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with electrical engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, and reports.
  • Participate in the development of procedures and guidelines for electrical engineering-related activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the transmission and substation field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
  • PE (Professional Engineer) registration.
  • Experience in designing foundations and steel structures.
