This role offers a flexible work arrangement, combining both in-office and remote work opportunities.

In this position, you will have the chance to leverage and enhance your expertise in transmission line engineering, focusing on various components such as conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles to:
  • Design transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV.
  • Conduct cost analyses, develop design criteria, and manage routing and siting of transmission lines.
  • Perform conductor selection studies, as well as shielding, grounding, and induction assessments.
  • Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify essential transmission line components.
This position will also provide you with the opportunity to:
  • Engage with a diverse clientele and collaborate with various project teams.
  • Occasionally travel for site inspections and client engagements.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for upcoming projects.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience include:
  • A BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD software for reviewing transmission line models.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as part of a project team, adhering to project schedules and budget constraints across various transmission assignments, including transmission line design, cost estimation, schedule management, preparation of procurement specifications, and coordination with construction and installation teams.
  • Ability to verify and review right-of-way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, and transmission line plan and profile drawings.
  • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Experience in drafting and supporting documentation for engineering calculations.
  • Knowledge of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
Valued but not mandatory skills and experience include:
  • Possession of a current PE license or the capability to obtain one within a year.
  • Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
  • Experience with project scheduling.
  • Proficiency in any of the following software: PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
