Our focus is primarily on the cooked/ready-to-eat (RTE) sector, with ongoing efforts to innovate and enhance our product offerings.

Position Summary

We are actively seeking a seasoned R&D Chef to spearhead our innovation initiatives amidst a growing array of sales and development projects. The ideal candidate will possess a business-oriented mindset and will oversee a small team dedicated to supporting all facets of sales, product development, quality assurance, and the rollout of new offerings.

The successful applicant will have 5-8+ years of culinary expertise within restaurant or corporate food service settings, demonstrating leadership capabilities or readiness to manage a team. This role requires the ability to translate culinary experience into a manufacturing context. We are open to a diverse range of experience levels, prepared to nurture and develop emerging talent or onboard a seasoned professional.

We are looking for a dynamic, innovative, and customer-centric individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality products and exceptional service to both internal teams and external clients. The candidate should thrive in a small company environment where responsibilities are varied and opportunities to make a significant impact are abundant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Innovation: Drive and support sales and innovation efforts, including creating bench-top and production floor samples; implement strategies for assessing ingredient technologies and developing new products.
  • Recipe Development: Design and innovate scalable, cost-effective recipes that align with market trends and meet customer and company specifications.
  • Improvement: Enhance existing recipes' nutritional value, cost, and sensory qualities; research and propose sustainable, high-quality ingredient sourcing while considering supply chain efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of recipes, tests, and procedures, including written documentation of test kitchen sessions and recipe development processes.
  • Collaboration: Assist the sales team with product development inquiries, customer presentations, and product information requests; prepare and deliver technical presentations for customer engagements; foster relationships with suppliers.
  • Research: Stay informed about product and ingredient trends, standards, attributes, and safety protocols.
  • Inspire & Manage: Lead and supervise a small, enthusiastic team; perform supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws; manage daily operations of the test kitchen.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of culinary experience in a restaurant or food service organization.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a corporate food service organization.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment, preferably with proteins.
  • Knowledge of food safety principles, GMPs, and HACCP.
  • Formal Culinary Arts education is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Certified Food Scientist (CFS), Research Chef (CRC), or Culinary Scientist (CCS) are advantageous.
  • Background in Food and/or Animal Science is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
