As a pivotal member of the Portland Trail Blazers organization, you will play a crucial role in driving success beyond the basketball court.

In the capacity of Vice President of Commercial Partnership Sales, you will spearhead the partnership sales division, focusing on revenue enhancement through the cultivation of strategic alliances and sponsorships. This position entails the formulation and execution of robust sales initiatives, nurturing essential relationships both internally and externally, and guiding a team of sales experts to meet the organization's objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide the sales team in identifying, negotiating, and securing new commercial partnerships with brands at local, national, and global levels.
  • Craft and execute a comprehensive sales strategy that aligns with organizational goals, collaborating closely with internal teams such as Marketing, Operations, DEI, and Community.
  • Lead the Partnership Sales Team to ensure alignment with established targets while providing clear guidance, development, coaching, training, and mentorship tailored to diverse experience levels.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategy to manage pricing structures and develop partnership offerings.
  • Evaluate all proposals and agreements, providing constructive feedback to ensure consistent market messaging and valuation of partnership models.
  • Work alongside the Commercial Partnership Leadership team to enhance strategic initiatives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market shifts to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and conferences to boost visibility and foster relationships with potential partners.
  • Monitor and report on partnership revenue, delivering regular updates to senior management.
  • Commit to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated success in high-value partnership sales, particularly in transforming engagement assets into cohesive partnerships.
  • Strong strategic thinking abilities with a proven history of effective sales strategy development and implementation.
  • Experience in coaching and developing high-performing sales teams, providing mentorship tailored to various experience levels.
  • Current knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry, supported by strong business acumen.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with the ability to negotiate and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in collaboration and communication, with a track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to monitor industry trends and partnership performance.
  • Dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the workplace.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a relevant industry, particularly in Sports Marketing, Media Sales, or Advertising.
  • Experience with various sponsorship inventory management and CRM systems, showcasing adaptability and a quick learning capacity.
