Position Overview
The Senior Vice President of Finance plays a crucial role in the leadership team, contributing to strategic decision-making and local ministry initiatives. This executive is responsible for collaborating with both local and regional leaders to establish financial strategies and drive operational success across various ministries. The Senior Vice President will also represent the organization in financial leadership capacities within joint ventures and boards as designated by the Regional CFO. This role entails shared accountability for both service area and local operations, working closely with system shared services to achieve desired outcomes. The Senior Vice President reports directly to the Regional CFO while maintaining a matrixed relationship with the Chief Executives of the service area and local ministries.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Providence Health & Services.
- Lead initiatives to ensure the successful achievement of operational results and strategic objectives as directed by the Regional CFO and Service Area CEO.
- Collaborate with service area leadership teams to address challenges and implement strategies that enhance financial performance.
- Oversee the development and execution of service area budgets.
- Monitor financial benchmarks and reporting metrics related to the budgets.
- Assist the service area CEO in conducting monthly operational reviews.
- Participate in joint venture boards or committees as assigned by regional leadership.
- Work closely with shared services partners in revenue cycle management, accounting, and performance improvement projects.
- Act as the finance liaison on local boards and committees, ensuring regular communication with core leaders and staff regarding financial matters.
- Support the Regional CFO in managing relationships with key shared services partners.
- Exercise signature authority on relevant documents in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred upon hire.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership capacity.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders through positive interactions.
- Broad understanding of healthcare trends and changes.
