Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Consultant to bolster our growing geotechnical division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop geotechnical engineering solutions, including sketches, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various projects such as flood barriers, levees, and pumping stations.
  • Evaluate design and construction submissions for geotechnical adherence to relevant codes, standards, project specifications, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct analyses related to slope stability, soil characteristics, and other geotechnical assessments.
  • Engage in effective communication with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Perform technical analyses, draft proposals and reports, and collaborate with designers and contractors to implement recommendations in both plans and fieldwork.
  • Assist in developing the technical scope of work and fee proposals.
  • Respond to requests for proposals (RFPs) concerning geotechnical services.
  • Make informed decisions regarding critical design and engineering processes as necessary.
  • Serve as a Technical Specialist or Project Manager on mid-sized projects when required.
  • Oversee a small team of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within 12 months; candidates without a PE will hold an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation.
  • Proven leadership and communication capabilities.
  • Ability to produce comprehensive, clear, and organized engineering calculations and documentation.
  • Familiarity with applicable structural design methodologies, codes, and standards.
  • Willingness to travel for inspections of hydraulic structures, with travel not exceeding 30% of the time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A commitment to actively participating in our employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) preferred.
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering related to dams, levees, hydraulic structures, railroads, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of current technical standards, including USACE and LRFD.
  • Registered professional geotechnical engineer with active involvement in relevant professional organizations.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software such as gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, and Settle3D.
  • Capability to develop and execute designs using spreadsheets and MATHCAD.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates.
