Vice President of Alternative Investments - Capital Markets & Sourcing | Hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the identification, assessment, and execution of new investment opportunities while monitoring existing alternative asset strategies through various activities.
  2. Establish and nurture relationships with asset and fund managers specializing in private and alternative debt strategies to meet growth and income objectives aligned with asset allocation goals.
  3. Direct comprehensive due diligence processes and document evaluations for new strategies, collaborating with internal expert teams across finance, legal, risk, and operational sectors.
  4. Conduct in-depth analyses and regular reviews of the alternatives portfolio to evaluate performance, risk profile changes, collateral structures, and macroeconomic trends.
  5. Manage the selection of asset managers and monitor their performance against key performance indicators, focusing on yield-enhancing strategies.
  6. Mentor and guide junior team members, reporting directly to the Vice President of Capital Markets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Lead research and financial modeling efforts for alternative assets, particularly in private debt, assessing relative value, capital efficiency, and risk for insurance balance sheets.
  2. Perform detailed evaluations of fund collateral, credit subordination, stress testing, and capital consumption under regulatory capital models.
  3. Prepare regular asset class reports and collaborate on investment narratives with internal and external partners.
  4. Work closely with portfolio allocators to provide investment recommendations within alternative asset sectors, considering strategic asset allocation and liquidity.
  5. Support and mentor junior professionals in manager selection, due diligence, and legal document review for new investment strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in an insurance company, bank, or asset management firm, with a focus on private debt and alternative assets.
  2. Exceptional leadership skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a knack for storytelling using market and portfolio data.
  3. Proficiency in investment systems for alternative asset modeling, including tools like Excel, Bloomberg, Aladdin, and eFront.
  4. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field is required.
