Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the identification, evaluation, and execution of new investment opportunities while monitoring existing alternative asset strategies through various activities.
  2. Establish new partnerships and leverage existing relationships with asset and fund managers in private and alternative debt sectors to achieve growth and income objectives aligned with asset allocation goals.
  3. Lead comprehensive due diligence processes and document reviews for new strategies, collaborating with expert teams across accounting, tax, legal, risk, and operations.
  4. Conduct in-depth analyses and regular assessments of the alternatives portfolio to evaluate performance, risk profile changes, collateral composition, and macroeconomic trends.
  5. Manage asset manager selection and performance evaluation based on relevant KPIs, focusing on yield-enhancing strategies.
  6. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, reporting directly to the VP of Capital Markets.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct asset class research and financial modeling for alternative assets, particularly in private debt, considering relative value, capital efficiency, and risk assessment.
  2. Perform detailed analyses on fund collateral, credit subordination, stress testing, ratings migration, payment structures, and capital consumption under various capital models.
  3. Prepare regular asset class reports and support the development of investment narratives in collaboration with AIM and external partners.
  4. Work with portfolio allocators to make informed investment recommendations within alternative asset sub-sectors, considering strategic asset allocation and overall portfolio fit.
  5. Assist and mentor junior professionals in manager selection, due diligence, legal document review, and strategy execution.

Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years of relevant experience in an insurance company, bank, or asset management firm, focusing on private debt and alternative assets in a client-facing role.
  2. Demonstrated leadership abilities and exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for storytelling using market and portfolio data.
  3. Proficiency in investment systems for alternative asset modeling, including Excel, Bloomberg, Aladdin, and eFront.
  4. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or a related technical field is required.
