Key Responsibilities

System Design and Evaluation:

  • Oversee the design and evaluation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications, codes, and regulations.
  • Devise innovative strategies to fulfill client needs, enhance system performance, and improve energy efficiency.
  • Prepare comprehensive system submittals, including mechanical airflow diagrams, operational sequences, product data selections, calculations, and conceptual design sketches.

Collaboration and Team Support:

  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate engineered system designs into larger projects.
  • Offer expert advice and technical support.
  • Clarify system design specifications and modify designs as necessary to adapt to changing client needs and site conditions.
  • Engage in project planning sessions, contributing to the formulation of project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
  • Examine project models and drawings to ensure quality and accuracy in system design and compliance with overall project specifications.

Departmental Growth:

  • Assist the Director of Engineering in strategic initiatives and departmental objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's vision.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into the design process as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures for the engineering department.

Client Engagement and Project Coordination:

  • Participate in client project meetings as necessary to discuss project scope and requirements.
  • Provide expert recommendations to clients to achieve their objectives in a cost-effective and energy-efficient manner while maintaining project scope.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, particularly in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Experience with cleanrooms, industrial laboratories, and/or cold storage facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of various refrigerant types, their properties, and the principles of thermodynamics and heat transfer related to refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with advanced refrigerant technologies such as transcritical CO2 systems and A2L systems is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in client communication and collaboration.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in industry-standard design and analysis software such as AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Knowledgeable in load calculation and equipment selection software.
  • Proficient with MS Teams and Microsoft Office Suite (including MS Projects, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and AHRI.
  • Familiarity with BIM360 or Procore is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
