Position Overview
American Battery Solutions is seeking a full-time Process Improvement Engineer to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities

The Process Improvement Engineer will serve as a key contributor in the development, execution, and management of continuous enhancement strategies aimed at reducing costs, boosting productivity, and increasing throughput across all operations within Materials and Logistics.

This role involves the design, assessment, and implementation of supply chain solutions to address intricate logistics challenges associated with the distribution of materials and finished products.


Key Duties
  • Utilize industrial engineering methodologies to evaluate warehouse operations, pinpointing enhancement opportunities to optimize labor, space utilization, accuracy, and safety.
  • Conduct data analysis and root cause investigations to prioritize significant logistics initiatives.
  • Employ statistical analysis, FMEA, and other analytical tools to support strategic recommendations.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics for processes.
  • Assess warehouse operations, identify inefficiencies, and propose modifications to enhance productivity.
  • Review and adapt process improvements from other facilities or best practices applicable to local operations.
  • Manage significant projects related to capital investments, including ROI assessments, equipment specifications, process updates, and associate training to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Oversee evaluations and enhancements to manufacturing and warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, retrieval, and distribution.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics team to identify annual cost-saving opportunities through the implementation of continuous improvement strategies, ensuring optimal operational and financial logistics performance.
  • Design, develop, validate, and implement methods and tools that enhance operational flexibility and the execution of lean production systems.
  • Modify and refine existing logistics systems, including material flow, storage, and information flow.
  • Support Logistics teams in developing and implementing strategies for material ordering, communication, transportation, packaging, and distribution throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement solutions aimed at minimizing lead times across the value stream and extended supply chain.
  • Educate and promote the use of lean logistics tools such as Plan for Every Part, Kanban, Supermarkets, and Milk runs.
  • Work collaboratively with other Logistics teams to optimize shipping, receiving, and warehousing processes.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in process engineering, industrial engineering, or a similar discipline.

Familiarity with MRP and ERP systems is preferred, with experience in PLEX ERP being advantageous. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management is essential.

Candidates must demonstrate strong technical, communication, customer service, and computer skills, along with knowledge of quality management systems.

Physical Requirements

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, as well as occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds. The role may involve movement in industrial environments and exposure to varying weather conditions.
