American Battery Solutions is seeking a full-time Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer.

Position Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for enhancing the design and acquisition of machinery and tools, ensuring that prototype equipment is properly maintained, and that tooling is operational and ready for standard operating procedures (SOP), process development, and system support. This role involves conducting reviews, testing, and analysis to confirm that product designs adhere to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and that a Design for Assembly (DFA) process can be established. The engineer will also support production initiation and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and refine manufacturing procedures by analyzing products and production techniques.
  • Design and assess manufacturing processes through research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; gathering feedback from operators.
  • Examine product specifications; research, design, modify, and test manufacturing techniques and machinery; collaborate with equipment suppliers.
  • Boost manufacturing productivity by planning workflows, spatial requirements, and equipment arrangements.
  • Ensure product and process integrity by engaging in testing methodologies; evaluating finished products and process capabilities; validating manufacturing procedures.
  • Compile product and process documentation by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Assist in the design of equipment and tools.
  • Oversee the manufacturing assessment of new product ideas (DFA), development of manufacturing strategies, and estimation of production expenses.
  • Organize and manage manufacturing processes and resource documentation such as DFAs, Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Lead prototype and production commencement activities to achieve product quality and business objectives.
  • Assess manufacturing processes based on quality metrics, including efficiency and speed.
  • Support prototype operators, technicians, designers, and engineers in developing and executing processes for product launches.
  • Recommend improvements to document Company Best Practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Align with the company’s vision, values, goals, and business strategies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient understanding of PLCs (Allen Bradley preferred), HMIs, relays, contractors, servos, steppers, low and high voltage circuits, torque drivers, barcode systems, database storage, and vision systems.
  • Experience with quality management systems.
  • Strong technical and communication abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with machine electrical cabinet layouts and controls.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Familiarity with TS 16949 and ISO standards.
  • Experience in fixture design for robotic, CNC, and welding applications.
  • Knowledge of assembly controls, including sensors, vision systems, and mechanical poke yokes.
  • Understanding of robotic versus manual assembly processes and their appropriate applications.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic assemblies, valve banks, and air control systems.
  • Proficient in CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks (the ability to conceptualize in CAD and translate ideas into functional designs is essential).
  • Experience in multi-content assembly processes, with a comprehensive understanding of product manufacturing from start to finish.
