Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Audiologist II to join our esteemed team within the Cabinet for Health & Family Services. This role is essential in providing comprehensive audiological services to children and youth with special health care needs. The ideal candidate will be committed to making a significant impact in the community through effective audiological care.

Key Responsibilities

As an Audiologist II, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating as a vital member of a multidisciplinary treatment team to deliver diagnostic and case management services for audiologic needs.
  • Administering services related to hearing devices, including evaluations, fittings, repairs, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Partnering with regional hospitals and community audiologists to ensure timely hearing screenings and follow-up services for infants.
  • Providing counseling to patients and families regarding available community resources and facilitating transitions from pediatric to adult care.
  • Designing and implementing educational programs for families, professionals, and staff to enhance understanding of audiological health.
  • Overseeing the audiometric activities of subordinate staff, ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to support the mission of the department.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
  • A Doctorate in Audiology from an accredited institution recognized by the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
  • Active licensure or eligibility for licensure from the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, with active status by the end of the probationary period.

  • Strong self-motivation and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Flexibility and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with cochlear implants and other implantable devices is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and records management.
  • The willingness to travel as required throughout the region.
