Responsibilities_The Telemetry Unit Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering safe and effective patient care under the supervision of registered nursing staff. This position involves assisting with patient mobility, maintaining cleanliness in the care environment, and performing essential diagnostic tasks. The specialist is responsible for the continuous monitoring of patients' EKG patterns and promptly communicating significant findings to nursing personnel._
Key Responsibilities Include:+ _Providing direct patient assistance as directed by nursing staff_+ _Monitoring and documenting vital signs_+ _Assisting with personal hygiene and other physical care needs_+ _Accurately measuring and reporting intake and output_+ _Conducting daily weight assessments_+ _Performing blood glucose tests using appropriate equipment_+ _Promptly reporting any changes in patient conditions to nursing staff_+ _Acting as a patient care companion when necessary_+ _Supporting the admission, transfer, and discharge processes_+ _Managing housekeeping duties within the unit_+ _Facilitating transport and delivery of items as needed_+ _Monitoring and documenting refrigerator temperatures, reporting any discrepancies_+ _Updating bed status and maintaining a safe environment by responding to alarms and calls_+ _Ensuring cleanliness in patient areas, conducting comfort rounds, and addressing safety concerns_+ _Communicating effectively with patients' families, medical staff, and colleagues in a professional manner_+ _Serving as a receptionist for the unit with limited access to hospital information systems based on unit needs.

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

Utilizing Cerner for patient consultations, managing discharge processes, maintaining paper charts, and verifying medical orders_+ _Removing saline locks_+ _Ordering and organizing floor stock_+ _Conducting 12 lead EKGs as permitted by unit protocols_+ _Performing continuous observation of telemetry data and pulse oximetry as required.

The specialist is responsible for setting up, calibrating, and maintaining telemetry equipment, ensuring proper functionality and availability of supplies.

Key tasks include obtaining rhythm strips at the start of shifts, upon patient admission, and whenever changes occur. Each strip must be labeled accurately with patient identification and relevant timing and interval data._+ _Troubleshooting telemetry devices and ensuring all monitors are operational, while accounting for telemetry transmitters and verifying daily charges._+ _Identifying and reporting any changes in patient rhythm or rate to nursing staff promptly._

In emergency situations, the specialist is expected to respond appropriately, running continuous EKG strips and notifying the necessary personnel._+ _Demonstrating a commitment to professional development by completing required training and attending departmental meetings._

This role requires flexibility to meet the dynamic needs of the unit and may involve additional duties as assigned by management.

Strong written and verbal communication skillsCompletion of PCA II orientation/training CBO checkoffDemonstrated knowledge in EKG interpretation through:
A) Dysrhythmia Rhythm Interpretation Exam.

B) Successful completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation

PREFERRED Qualifications
One (1) year of direct patient care experience
