Job Overview

Openwork is collaborating with The Harris County Clerk to identify qualified Instructors for a vital role in educating election personnel.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  1. Delivering comprehensive demonstrations and explanations of voting processes, procedures, and equipment utilizing a structured curriculum.
  2. Collaborating with fellow instructors to conduct classes, both in-person and online, for groups ranging from 50 to 200 election judges and clerks.
  3. Managing classroom environments effectively, whether in-person or via virtual platforms.
  4. Setting up and dismantling classrooms, ensuring all materials are organized for transport to various locations.
  5. Providing support through phone communications with judges during voting periods.
  6. Achieving mastery of election-related content, including manuals and instructional materials.
  7. Performing general election duties as required.
  8. Participating in mandatory election days, including the start and end of early voting and on Election Day.
  9. Leading classes as the primary instructor.
  10. Visiting voting centers to reinforce training and procedures with election workers.
  11. Troubleshooting and executing advanced functions related to equipment and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following:

  1. Strong presentation skills with an emphasis on engagement and pacing.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  3. Experience with virtual platforms, particularly Zoom.
  4. Expertise in adult learning methodologies.
  5. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  6. Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  7. Outstanding customer service skills, including phone support.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  2. Capability to lift up to 35 pounds for prolonged durations during training sessions.
