Job Overview

Openwork is collaborating with The Harris County Clerk to identify qualified Instructors for an important role in educating election personnel.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidates will be responsible for:

  1. Demonstrating and explaining election processes, procedures, and voting equipment using a structured curriculum.
  2. Collaborating with a team of instructors to deliver training sessions (both in-person and online) to groups ranging from 50 to 200 election judges and clerks.
  3. Managing classroom environments effectively, whether in-person or via virtual platforms.
  4. Setting up and dismantling training spaces, ensuring all materials are organized for transport.
  5. Providing support and answering inquiries from judges during voting periods.
  6. Achieving mastery of election-related content, including manuals and training materials.
  7. Performing general election duties as required.
  8. Participating in mandatory election days, including the start and end of early voting, as well as on Election Day.
  9. Leading training sessions as the primary instructor.
  10. Visiting voting centers to reinforce training protocols with election workers.
  11. Troubleshooting and executing advanced functions related to equipment and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following:

  1. Strong presentation skills with an emphasis on engagement and pacing.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  3. Experience with virtual meeting platforms, particularly Zoom.
  4. Knowledge of adult learning principles.
  5. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  6. Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  7. Strong customer service skills, including phone support.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to:

  1. Engage in prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Lift up to 35 pounds for extended durations during training sessions.
