Position Overview:
The Academic Personnel Coordinator plays a pivotal role in managing the faculty recruitment process within the college. This position ensures adherence to institutional policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations. The coordinator assists in identifying issues and concerns to propose effective solutions regarding routine human resources matters, including organizational structure, employment, training, and policy guidance for administrative needs.
Additional Department Overview:
This role acts as a key liaison among the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S), University Human Resources, and the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) to facilitate strategic HR initiatives for the college. The coordinator provides comprehensive support throughout the employment lifecycle for A&S faculty and staff. Responsibilities include overseeing faculty and staff recruitment processes for the Dean's Office and offering guidance to departments in managing their recruitment efforts. Compliance with relevant institutional policies and procedures is paramount. The coordinator also undertakes routine and special HR-related projects for the college and collaborates with the college's HR Business Partner to advise supervisors on personnel matters.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or higher; OR an Associate's degree with two (2) years of relevant experience.
Skills and Competencies:
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats. Strong strategic planning capabilities and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Proficient problem-solving skills to propose solutions in line with established policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively towards shared objectives. Excellent organizational and time management skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field. Experience in human resources within a higher education context. Familiarity with the university's HR systems (Banner HR, eTime, and PageUp). Knowledge of university, federal, and state regulations.
