Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snowmaking Shift Lead to join our team at Jay Peak Resort. As a key member of our snowmaking department, you will be responsible for directing the activities of workers engaged in making snow on the mountain, including the operation, maintenance, and repair of the snowmaking system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and supervise snowmaking operations to ensure efficient and effective snow production.
  • Train and develop snowmaking team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Conduct regular inspections of snowmaking equipment and systems to identify and address any issues or concerns.
  • Collaborate with other mountain operations departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of snowmaking activities.
  • Assist with hiring, motivating, evaluating, and directing staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established goals and objectives.
  • Maintain and enhance a guest-focused culture in all areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, which could be directly related or unrelated to the original position.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
