POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Copywriting Manager is responsible for overseeing all facets of copy across a diverse portfolio of brands, leading a talented team of copywriters. This role involves conceptualizing innovative campaigns and strategies, ensuring creative execution aligns with brand objectives, and delivering strategic solutions. The Senior Copywriting Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to uphold the quality and integrity of creative outputs. Additionally, this position focuses on mentoring and developing copy team members, acting as a key supporter of creative leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative Development and Execution

Accountable for all copy-related aspects across assigned brands, ensuring a seamless integration of client goals with the agency's creative vision.

Collaborative Engagement

Works in tandem with various team members to achieve and sustain the creative vision established for the brands and the agency.

Strategic Insight

Possesses a thorough understanding of marketing strategies, objectives, and success metrics, demonstrating strategic thinking in all initiatives.

Client Relations

Regularly presents creative concepts to internal stakeholders and clients, facilitating discussions to enhance the work based on comprehensive knowledge of market data and brand strategy.

Team Leadership

Supervises and nurtures the development of copywriters and freelancers, providing constructive feedback to maximize their creative potential and working autonomously.

Administrative Oversight

Ensures a meticulous and timely approach to all administrative responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES:

Creative Development and Execution

  • Leads and contributes to the creation of copy that is strategic, original, and resonates with target audiences across various platforms.
  • Guides the development of engaging language that aligns with established brand tones while appealing to diverse audiences.
  • Offers art direction insights relevant to creative concepts.
  • Innovates bold creative strategies to meet brand objectives while managing daily copy requirements.
  • Actively participates in agency/client review processes, revising copy as necessary and addressing any inconsistencies.
  • Exhibits consistent effectiveness in meeting job expectations across multiple projects and brands.

Collaborative Engagement

  • Fosters positive relationships with various departments including Editorial, Account Management, Strategy, and Project Management.
  • Maintains clear and effective communication with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, and quality assurance.
  • Collaborates closely with Art partners to develop and execute creative strategies that convey brand identity and messaging.
  • Proactively shares new ideas and suggestions for personal and team development with leadership.

Strategic Insight

  • Acts as an advocate for the client's market position, competition, and marketing strategies.
  • Creates innovative concepts that align with client marketing strategies and audience needs.
  • Participates actively in brainstorming sessions focused on strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Fully comprehends the creative brief and its role in the creative process, incorporating client feedback effectively.

Client Relations

  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships through authoritative presentations and a deep understanding of brand data and strategic direction.

Team Leadership

  • Communicates proactively with team members to ensure the creative vision is upheld and deadlines are met.
  • Mentors and inspires the copy team, delegating tasks and responsibilities as appropriate.
  • Oversees the hiring and full lifecycle management of talent, including performance evaluations and feedback.

Administrative Oversight

  • Ensures accurate and timely submission of timesheets for self and the copy team.
  • Contributes to discussions regarding resource allocation and project scoping.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED/PREFERRED DEGREE:

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field - Preferred

EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

2-6 years in Advertising/Marketing - Preferred

Experience in Pharmaceutical Advertising - Preferred

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) or equivalent software.

Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign) is advantageous.

  • Knowledgeable in social media and digital marketing best practices.
  • Understanding of healthcare copywriting standards, including AMA style and regulatory requirements, is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
