JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Copywriting Manager oversees the comprehensive management of copy across a diverse portfolio of brands, leading a team of skilled copywriters. This role is pivotal in conceptualizing innovative campaigns and creative strategies, ensuring high-quality execution while aligning with brand objectives. The Senior Copywriting Manager collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to uphold the creative integrity of all projects. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in mentoring and developing the careers of copy team members, acting as a key supporter of creative leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Creative Development and Execution

Accountable for all copy-related activities across assigned brands, ensuring a seamless blend of client goals and the agency's creative vision.

Collaboration Across Teams

Works in tandem with various departments to maintain the creative vision established for the brands and the agency.

Strategic Insight

Possesses a deep understanding of marketing strategies, objectives, and metrics for success.

Client Engagement

Regularly presents creative concepts to internal stakeholders and clients, facilitating discussions to enhance the work based on a thorough understanding of market data and brand strategy.

Team Leadership

The Senior Copywriting Manager supervises and evaluates the performance of copywriters and freelancers, providing constructive feedback to maximize their creative potential.

Administrative Responsibilities

Ensures all administrative tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative Development and Execution

  • Directs and contributes to the creation of compelling copy that aligns with strategic objectives and resonates with target audiences.
  • Guides the development of engaging language across various platforms while adhering to the established brand voice.
  • Offers direction for artistic elements related to creative concepts.
  • Innovates bold creative ideas to support brand objectives while managing daily copy requirements.
  • Actively participates in agency/client review processes, addressing any inconsistencies and collaborating with supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrates consistent effectiveness across multiple projects and brands.

Collaboration Across Teams

  • Fosters positive relationships with departments such as Editorial, Account Management, Strategy, and Project Management.
  • Maintains clear communication with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, and quality control.
  • Collaborates closely with design teams to execute creative strategies that effectively convey brand messages.
  • Proactively shares new ideas and suggestions for personal and team development.

Strategic Insight

  • Acts as an advocate for the client's market position, competition, and marketing strategies.
  • Creates innovative ideas that align with the client's marketing objectives and audience needs.
  • Engages actively in brainstorming sessions focused on strategic and tactical planning.
  • Fully comprehends the creative brief and its significance in the creative process, incorporating client feedback effectively.

Client Engagement

  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships through clear presentations and a thorough understanding of brand dynamics.

Team Leadership

  • Communicates effectively with team members to ensure creative vision and deadlines are met.
  • Mentors and inspires the copy team, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Oversees hiring and full-cycle talent management, including performance evaluations.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of timesheets for the team.
  • Contributes to resource planning and project scoping discussions.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED/PREFERRED DEGREE AREA:

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

2-6 years of experience in Advertising or Marketing is preferred, with exposure to Pharmaceutical Advertising being a plus.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with Adobe Suite.

  • Strong understanding of social media and digital marketing best practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare copywriting standards, including AMA style and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
