JOB SUMMARY:

The Group Copy Supervisor (GCS) oversees the entirety of copy responsibilities for a diverse portfolio of brands, leading a team of skilled copywriters. This role is pivotal in generating innovative campaigns and creative strategies, ensuring the execution aligns with brand objectives. The GCS collaborates extensively with cross-functional teams to uphold the quality and integrity of the creative output. Additionally, the GCS plays a crucial role in mentoring and developing the careers of copy team members, acting as a key supporter of creative leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Creative Development and Execution

Accountable for all copy elements across various brands, striking a balance between client goals and the agency's creative vision.

Collaborative Engagement

Works closely with team members from different departments to achieve and sustain the creative vision established for the brands and the agency.

Strategic Insight

Possesses a thorough understanding of marketing strategies, objectives, and metrics for success.

Client Relations

Regularly presents creative concepts to internal teams and clients, leading discussions to enhance the work based on comprehensive market knowledge and brand strategy.

Team Leadership

The GCS supervises copywriters and freelancers, assesses their work, provides constructive feedback to maximize their potential, and operates independently.

Administrative Responsibilities

Ensures that administrative tasks are handled in a timely, detail-oriented, and accurate manner.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creative Development and Execution

  • Oversees and contributes to copy for assigned projects that aligns with strategic goals and maintains originality, engagement, and synergy with visual elements.
  • Guides the creation of compelling language for diverse audiences across multiple platforms while adhering to the established brand voice.
  • Provides direction for visual elements in relation to the overall concept.
  • Generates bold, innovative ideas to support brand objectives while managing daily copy requirements.
  • Actively participates in agency/client review processes; revises copy as needed, identifies issues, and collaborates with supervisors and account services to resolve them.
  • Demonstrates consistent effectiveness and delivery of expectations across various projects and brands.

Collaborative Engagement

  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with various agency departments, including Editorial, Account, Strategy, and Project Management.
  • Communicates effectively with team members regarding deadlines, revisions, quality control, and new projects.
  • Collaborates closely with Art partners to develop and implement creative strategies that convey brand identity and messaging for both overarching campaigns and individual materials.
  • Proactively shares new ideas and suggestions for personal growth and team dynamics with leadership.

Strategic Insight

  • Acts as an advocate for the client's market position, competition, and marketing strategies.
  • Creatively develops innovative concepts that align with the client's marketing strategy and audience needs.
  • Engages actively in strategic brainstorming sessions.
  • Fully comprehends the creative brief and its significance in the creative process, considering client feedback.

Client Relations

  • Builds and maintains strong client relationships through clear and authoritative presentations, demonstrating a thorough understanding of brand data and strategic direction.

Team Leadership

  • Communicates proactively with all team members to ensure the creative vision is upheld and deadlines are met.
  • Mentors and inspires the copy team, delegating tasks and assignments as necessary.
  • Responsible for the complete talent management process, including hiring, feedback, performance reviews, and general management.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting of work hours for self and the copy team.
  • Contributes to discussions regarding resource allocation and project scoping.

EDUCATION:

DEGREE/DIPLOMA AREA OF STUDY REQUIRED/PREFERRED

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field - Preferred

EXPERIENCE:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AREA OF EXPERTISE REQUIRED

2-6 years of experience in Advertising/Marketing - Preferred

Experience in Pharmaceutical Advertising - Preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel) or equivalent software.

Familiarity with Adobe Suite (Acrobat, InDesign).

  • Proficient in social media and digital best practices.
  • Knowledge of healthcare copywriting, including AMA style, health literacy, and regulatory submissions (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
