Amentum is on the lookout for a Submarine Acoustic Systems Specialist to deliver expert technical assistance in the diagnosis, repair, and enhancement of submarine acoustic systems. This role is crucial for maintaining the operational readiness of our advanced naval fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough technical assessments and implement necessary corrective measures for submarine acoustic systems in alignment with established maintenance protocols.
  • Prepare detailed reports following technical assistance visits to document the resolution of issues.
  • Support the disassembly, reassembly, installation, and testing of BQQ-10 systems across various submarine classes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on a range of tasks related to the installation, upkeep, troubleshooting, calibration, and operation of complex electronic and mechanical systems.
  • Engage directly with clients for equipment installation, testing, and other engineering-related activities.
  • Adhere to engineering documentation standards and ensure compliance with system specifications and testing procedures.
  • Provide technical insights and evaluations for components and systems, ensuring alignment with engineering designs and contractual obligations.
  • Act as a senior technician, mentoring and guiding junior staff in their professional development.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of vocational or technical training beyond high school, coupled with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
  • General Experience: A decade of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, testing, or repair of electronic systems.
  • Specialized Experience: At least six years of hands-on engineering experience aboard submarines, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and repair of SWFTS systems and weapon handling equipment.
  • Proven ability to assess the condition of ship systems and execute corrective actions.
  • Possession of an active secret US government clearance is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center is advantageous.
