Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Submarine Acoustics Systems Specialist to provide technical support in the troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of onboard naval submarines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics systems and equipment, with experience in evaluating material conditions and implementing corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Evaluation and Troubleshooting: Provide technical evaluation and perform corrective actions for Submarine Acoustic systems casualties in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and all other applicable Navy Maintenance Procedures.
  • Technical Assistance Visits: Draft Technical Assistance Visit reports upon completion of corrective actions.
  • System Installation and Testing: Assist in the disassembly, reassembly, installation, and testing of the BQQ-10 systems onboard all classes of submarines.
  • Engineering Support: Provide support to engineering and design staff in a variety of engineering tasks, including installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with engineering specifications.
  • Customer Interface: Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/systems installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, and system specifications and test procedures.
  • Technical Data and Evaluation: Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements.
  • Training and Development: Serve as senior/lead technician and assist in the training of other technicians.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Vocational/Technical Training: Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least ten (10) years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • General Experience: Ten (10) years of full-time technical experience in the design, installation, test, or repair of electronics systems and equipment.
  • Specialized Experience: Six (6) years of full-time engineering experience onboard submarines in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, or repair of SWFTS systems and/or weapons handling equipment.
  • Experience in Evaluating Material Conditions: Experience in evaluating the material condition of ship systems and implementing corrective action.
  • Security Clearance: Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior Experience: Prior experience supporting the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC).
