About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Signals Intelligence Systems Analyst to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering cutting-edge solutions for the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and supporting commands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Remote On-Site Subject Matter Expert: Provide technical expertise for a US Navy tailored IP network data analysis suite.
  • APL Program Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the US Navy submarine community.
  • Mission Focused Data Analysis: Conduct risk quantification and mitigation development for the submarine community.
  • Technical System Sustainment: Perform tailoring and tuning of technical systems.
  • Software and Hardware Installations: Support the installation of emerging and evolving technologies.
  • Training and Operational Support: Provide training and operational support to uniformed Navy personnel.
  • Collaboration and Assessment: Collaborate with program leadership and development teams to assess the impact of proposed hardware, software, and algorithm changes on collection systems operations.
  • User Interface Updates: Propose user interface updates to enhance the capability of collection systems.
  • Tailored Alerting Capabilities: Develop tailored alerting capabilities for emerging risks.
  • Task Planning and Execution: Support task planning activities by creating workflows for briefing collaborators, executing training, and rolling out capabilities.
  • Use Case Observation and Explanation: Work alongside US Navy users to observe use cases and explain software features and collection products.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Work with APL operations and maintenance leads to maintain awareness of troubleshooting needs or observed anomalies.
Qualifications
  • Expertise in TCP/IP Communications: Have expertise in TCP/IP communications and mission-centric data analysis for the US Navy Submarine Community.
  • Submarine Network Systems Experience: Have experience working with submarine network systems, applications, protocols, and supporting technologies.
  • Training Development Experience: Have experience developing and delivering training for operational hardware or software systems.
  • Linux Operating System Experience: Have experience working in Linux operating systems and IP data collection systems and applications.
  • Effective Communication: Be comfortable and effective in communicating with DoD leadership and peers.
  • Travel Requirements: In support of mission requirements, there is anticipated to be both CONUS and OCONUS travel.
  • Security Clearance: Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and be able to ultimately acquire a TS/SCI level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field: Possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Information Science.
  • US Navy Submarine Community Experience: Have direct experience working with the US Navy submarine community in an operational capacity.
  • Technical Leadership Experience: Have demonstrated ability in a technical position, with experience leading a small simulation, software development, or data analysis task.
  • Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis Experience: Have demonstrated knowledge and application of machine learning or statistical analysis techniques.
  • Python Programming Experience: Have Python programming experience.
  • Effective Communication with Government Sponsors: Have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with government sponsors.
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance: Possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
