Your Responsibilities

As the Director of Policy and External Affairs, you will be instrumental in furthering Good Energy Collective's mission through strategic policy formulation, external engagement, and legislative outreach. Your key responsibilities will include:

Policy Formulation:
  • Strategic Development: Create, refine, and implement a policy agenda that aligns with our mission. Lead initiatives to advocate for progressive nuclear policies.
  • Legislative Engagement: Manage congressional inquiries regarding political and policy matters. Oversee the development and placement of supportive legislation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Shape our policy agenda through regular interactions with external stakeholders, including government agencies, coalition partners, academic institutions, and business entities.
Policy Communication:
  • Impact Assessment: Assist in tracking the qualitative and quantitative impact of our policies, ensuring alignment with our objectives.
  • Public Representation: Craft public statements on policy issues, engage with the media, and represent Good Energy Collective at external events, conferences, and workshops.
External Collaboration:
  • Network Expansion: Enhance and broaden our network of external partners to advance our mission. Collaborate with governmental, union, academic, and Tribal organizations to build extensive coalitions of support.
  • Coalition Engagement: Oversee our participation in external coalitions and working groups, ensuring our policy priorities are effectively represented and promoted.
Qualifications

We seek a dynamic leader with a robust background in energy or environmental policy and a commitment to advancing social and environmental justice.

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in energy or climate policy, with substantial congressional engagement and advocacy experience. Familiarity with the federal legislative process and nuclear energy is highly desirable.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of policy analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex policy issues clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to develop data-driven policy recommendations and evaluate the impact of legislative initiatives.
  • Networking: Established relationships within the policy and advocacy community, particularly in the energy sector, with a demonstrated ability to build and leverage these connections.
  • Commitment: A deep commitment to our mission and a passion for racial, environmental, economic, and social justice.
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate the evolving energy policy landscape with agility and strategic foresight.
  • Cultural Competence: An understanding of the diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of our communities, with an inclusive and equitable approach to policy development.
Location and Compensation

This position is based in Washington, D.C., with remote work flexibility. The salary range is $110,000 to $150,000, commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
