Position Overview:

The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our pharmacy services. This position is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional care and support to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage prescription processing and refill authorizations.
  • Handle insurance billing and patient payment processing.
  • Coordinate the delivery of medications and operate the cash register.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by working in various pharmacy and clinic locations as required.
  • Serve a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and geriatrics, while addressing communication barriers and sensory impairments.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support pharmacy operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred.
  • A valid California Pharmacy Technician license is essential.
  • Clear status with the California Board of Pharmacy Primary License, free of restrictions.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in pharmacy billing, medical terminology, and basic math skills.
  • Excellent public relations skills and the ability to foster teamwork.
  • Capable of performing pharmaceutical calculations and interpreting medication orders.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Able to utilize necessary computer software and troubleshoot patient care equipment.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective at managing multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
