Position Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for executing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient nutritional evaluations and follow-ups. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to implement effective nutrition strategies and coordinating the dietary care of patients. The specialist provides tailored nutrition education to patients and their families, working alongside dietitians, dietetic technicians, and diet aides to enhance performance standards.

In addition, the specialist conducts training sessions and presentations for clinical staff, mentors clinical dietitians and other healthcare professionals to elevate performance standards, participates in the education of dietetic and medical students, and serves as a consultant for medical practitioners.

Responsibilities may encompass inpatient, outpatient, and clinic environments; participation in outpatient group nutrition classes as required; and fulfilling appointments upon receipt of referrals.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field is mandatory.

A minimum of two years of clinical nutrition experience is essential, with one year preferred in Pediatrics.

Expertise and Abilities:
A comprehensive understanding of clinical nutrition in the designated specialty area is required. Proficiency in handling, speed movements, fine motor skills, and effective communication abilities are necessary for this role.

Must be adept at using a calculator, computer, pager, photocopier, and telephone. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and direction acceptance, with the ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure, while exhibiting a positive demeanor towards patients, visitors, and colleagues. Consistency in enforcing Medical Center policies is crucial.

Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently, make informed decisions, and follow through on plans is essential. Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills, along with mathematical proficiency, are necessary. The ability to organize and prioritize tasks while being detail-oriented is vital.

The ability to hear conversations both in person and over the phone is necessary.

Clear verbal communication skills are required to facilitate effective conversations in person and on the telephone.

Proficiency in documentation is essential, along with the ability to visually interpret information pertinent to the role.

Certifications:
Certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (RD/RDN) is required.

CCS Paneling must be completed within one year of hire.
