The Outpatient Pharmacy Technician II plays a crucial role in addressing patient needs related to medication management, including prescription processing, refill approvals, insurance claims, patient payment handling, medication dispensing, delivery logistics, and cash register operations.
Our technicians engage with a diverse patient demographic, spanning from neonates to seniors, including individuals with communication challenges and sensory disabilities.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.Required Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. Completion of a Pharmacy Technician program from an accredited institution is essential. A minimum of one year of experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred. A valid California Pharmacy Technician license is required, with a clear status from the California Board of Pharmacy. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is also necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of pharmacy billing, medical terminology, typing, mathematics, and computer proficiency. Strong public relations skills are essential, along with the ability to foster positive interactions with a wide range of colleagues and promote teamwork. Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and interpretation of medication orders is expected.
Effective communication skills in English (Spanish preferred) are required, along with the ability to utilize necessary software and troubleshoot patient care equipment.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to communicate professionally and positively with others, enforce policies consistently, remain calm under pressure, and collaborate effectively. The ability to think critically, work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and maintain attention to detail is crucial.
Physical capabilities include distinguishing colors and scents for patient care, hearing for general conversations, seeing adequately for reading medical documents, and discerning temperature variations through touch.
