Job Overview

Position Summary

The Sheet Metal Laser and Punch Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by operating advanced machinery to produce high-quality metal components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks related to the punch department as directed by the team leader or supervisor.
  • Ensure adherence to all organizational policies and operational procedures.
  • Take responsibility for effective time management and job tracking.
  • Maintain a willingness to learn new methods and processes from seasoned operators.
  • Identify and resolve issues to maintain optimal machine performance.
  • Plan and combine jobs strategically to enhance machine utilization and operational efficiency.
  • Acquire proficiency in machine controls to navigate daily challenges and ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Guide and instruct junior operators to foster their development and understanding of new techniques and protocols.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines while upholding a positive demeanor and delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Able to work independently and complete assignments according to established guidelines and accepted practices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with computers for data entry and time tracking.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Trade School or Vocational Training certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in operating sheet metal laser and punching machinery.
  • Experience with Trumpf TruMatic combination laser and punch machines is advantageous.
  • Forklift operator certification is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, including meeting productivity benchmarks.
  • Consistent attendance is necessary, in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other relevant standards.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective communication skills are essential, including the ability to talk, listen, and articulate clearly. Bilingual candidates are a plus.
