Position Overview - APM Wayside Field Engineer

The APM Wayside Field Engineer plays a crucial role as the Owner's Representative in the field, acting as a vital link to the Developer regarding the APM's wayside systems, which include interfaces, train control, wireless communication, radio systems, SCADA, station doors, announcements, and signage.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Developer's resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment, while assessing schedule progress and reporting findings.
  • Oversee Developer's adherence to design and construction standards.
  • Issue nonconformance notices when necessary and track the resolution of all nonconformance issues.
  • Review Developer's construction work plans, RFIs, submittals, force account work tickets, and change order requests.
  • Proactively identify and address potential issues such as scope changes and schedule delays, ensuring critical milestones are achieved.
  • Provide recommendations to upper management for resolving significant challenges.
  • Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including labor relations policies.
  • Promote sound construction practices to uphold job site safety and quality control.
  • Monitor compliance verification and readiness testing for guideway-mounted and station equipment.
  • Prepare regular reports summarizing construction activity progress for management personnel.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in SharePoint and Prolog is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 to 7 years of systems engineering and field experience on projects of similar size and complexity is preferred. Demonstrated capability to comprehend complex interfaces, train control, wireless communication, radio, and SCADA systems, with the ability to convey progress to both technical and management personnel.

Communication Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues to a non-technical audience.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electronic, or electrical engineering.

Additional Notes:

May be required to undertake other duties as necessary and work beyond regular hours or shifts as needed.
