Position Overview - APM Wayside Field Engineer

The APM Wayside Field Engineer plays a crucial role as the Owner's Representative in the field, serving as a vital link between the Developer and the APM's wayside systems, which include interfaces, train control, wireless communication, radio systems, SCADA, station doors, announcements, and signage.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate Developer resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment, while assessing schedule progress and reporting findings.
  2. Monitor Developer compliance with design and construction standards, issuing nonconformance notices as necessary and overseeing the resolution of these issues.
  3. Review construction work plans, RFIs, submittals, and change order requests to ensure alignment with project goals.
  4. Proactively identify and address potential issues, such as scope changes and schedule delays, ensuring critical milestones are achieved.
  5. Provide recommendations to upper management for resolving significant challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  6. Ensure effective implementation of all policies and procedures, including labor relations policies, by the Developer.
  7. Promote sound construction practices to uphold job site safety and quality control standards.
  8. Oversee compliance verification and readiness testing for guideway-mounted and station equipment.
  9. Prepare periodic reports summarizing construction progress for management personnel.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with SharePoint and Prolog is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 5 to 7 years of systems engineering and field experience in projects of similar size and complexity is preferred. The ability to comprehend intricate interfaces, train control, wireless, radio, and SCADA systems is essential, along with effective communication skills for both technical and management audiences.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electronic, or electrical engineering is required.

Additional Notes: Flexibility to assume other duties as needed and the potential to work beyond regular hours or various shifts may be required.
