About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Development Officer to join our team at United Way of the National Capital Area. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to drive revenue growth and support our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Develop and implement a sustainable fundraising plan to retain existing donors and generate new revenue streams.
  • Revenue Generation: Lead and coordinate efforts to maximize philanthropic revenue streams, including annual campaigns, workplace giving, and non-traditional revenue streams.
  • Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performing Resource Development team to achieve revenue and performance goals.
Qualifications and Attributes
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of successful fundraising leadership, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strategic Thinking: Visionary leader with excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong financial management skills, with the ability to develop and manage departmental expense budgets.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Creative and self-motivated, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
