Job Title: Clinical Support Specialist

Employment Status: Non-exempt, Hourly

Role Summary

The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering quality healthcare by applying their expertise in medical assistance. This position operates under the guidance of management and collaborates effectively with all team members. The specialist is tasked with providing direct patient care as necessary, engaging in departmental initiatives, and upholding the organization's core values while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure readiness for patient visits each day.
  • Guide patients to treatment areas and assist in their preparation for consultations.
  • Support physicians with various tasks and procedures as directed.
  • Process prescriptions, finalize care plans, and compile discharge summaries.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Organize and scan patient-related documents as required.
  • Coordinate scheduling for outpatient procedures.
  • Ensure clinical spaces and examination rooms are orderly and well-stocked.
  • Replenish supplies as necessary and manage inventory through established clinic protocols.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of samples and related materials.
  • Prepare folders containing patient information.
  • Organize patient charts in anticipation of upcoming appointments.
  • Facilitate patient check-in and check-out processes as needed.
  • Perform additional relevant tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential abilities include:

  1. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
  2. Ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety guidelines and patient care plans.
  3. Effective interaction with staff and patients at all levels.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical assisting role.
  • Experience in allergy care is a plus.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
